Clarity

Clarity refers to the number of blemishes a diamond has. Nearly all diamonds have imperfections in them, referred to as inclusions. A diamond with very little inclusions allows light to travel through it most brilliantly giving the diamond a higher level of clarity.  Clarity is based on a 10 level scale ranging from Flawless to Inclusions visible by the naked eye.

F- Flawless

IF – Internally flawless

VVS1, VVS2- Very very slightly included

VS1, VS2 – Very Slightly Included

SI1, SI2- Slightly included

I1

I2, I3- Included, Visible to the naked eye

Finding a flawless diamond is very rare. And if you do, the price may be too high. Diamonds with a rating of VS1 and above are great choices. The inclusions are very very faint and can't be seen by the naked eye. For the regular diamond shopper, the difference between a F and a VS1 grade diamond are almost unnoticeable.
